‘Find what you love to do, and go do it!’

Hi everyone!

I am Laurie, and I will be the National Representative of ESN the Netherlands for 2019/2020.

I am 24 years old, and grew up in a rural village in the “Achterhoek” in the east of the Netherlands. Even though it was a wonderful place to grow up in, I always wondered what the outside world and people were like. When I moved to Maastricht for my studies, I got introduced to ESN and its international atmosphere. It did not take long until I decided to join the organisation in 2015, and I have been around ever since.

I have had a number of functions within ESN, ranging from Secretary in the Board of ISN Maastricht, to national- and local committee positions, as well as my previous mandate as National Representative last year already.

As National Representative, I am the link between the international level and local level of this network. With my 39 colleagues in other countries, I make sure that our structure and strategy represents the needs of our network at the national and local level, as well as those of the international students we work with. I will inform the local board members of important developments on the international level, and lead the Dutch delegation during our international events. If you have any questions about my work or the network as a whole, do not hesitate to contact me!

I wish you a lovely time in this amazing country, and do not forget to wear some orange!
