About us

The Erasmus Student Network is an international student organization that looks after exchange students within the Erasmus study program. Therefore ESN Maastricht will introduce you to the Dutch and more specifically, the Maastricht student life in which you –without a doubt– will experience an awesome time abroad! In the beginning of every semester we organize a so called arrival week shortly followed by our introduction week, to welcome around 700 students in August and 500 students in January every year. For a start, from Monday to Wednesday you will have the option to make use of our pick up service to take you from the Maastricht central station to the guest house, which is the university’s residency (see arrival info). After that, you will have the opportunity guided through the city of Maastricht to inform you about some main practical matters as well as the best student places. In the evening we have a welcome dinner for exchange students, followed by a typical Dutch beer-drinking game. In the next few days of the introduction week there will be an extensive line-up of activities and events so to meet the other exchange students, as well as to explore the Dutch culture and the somewhat typical features of the Dutch student life. This program covers amongst others a pub crawl, a tour through the underground fortifications of Maastricht and a traditional Dutch beer-singing party –i.e. a cantus–. We will top all of this with a glamorous final party, all together to make you feel home as soon as possible!

Throughout the academic year we have a drink every Monday at our new bar, the Highlander, which is situated near to the Guesthouse. The Monday evenings are especially for exchange students and as such, you will get special offers for certain drinks over here. Next to that we will apply special themes to these evenings which together with multiple activities or events will make sure none of these evenings will ever be the same apart from always being great fun! Besides our regular drink every Monday, you will have the opportunity to participate in various trips to see a bit of Holland, parts of Belgium or in some cases even places in Europe in general. For those who had to miss the cantus during the arrival week there is a second and third chance per semester to be part of this hilarious event. And there is far more to come of which we will keep you up to date via this website. So don’t miss it and keep checking up regularly.

Cheers,

Board ESN Maastricht 2011-2012
